Christmas is just around the corner – and with a week to go, we have hit the target for the charities from sales of the three Deepest books. The final payment came into the account on the morning of Thursday 18th December, bringing the total raised by Deepest Dorset (long sold out), Deepest Wiltshire and Deepest Somerset, to more than £120,000.
We will make donations to our Wiltshire and Somerset charities before Christmas, and in the New Year we will be able to announce how much we have given from all three books.
We would like to thank Lord Rothermere for the original idea for Deepest Dorset, the Rothermere Foundation for funding all three books, all the booksellers, farm shops, arts centres, tourist offices and other locations where the book has been sold – and the thousands of people who have bought copies for themselves or for presents for friends and family.
It has been a journey of nearly ten years – and it’s not quite over, because we do still have some Wiltshires and Somersets to sell, but this was the big achievement, and we are delighted.
